We have already held the 10th meeting of the Kraków Heritage Forum, which this time focused participants’ attention on the Kraków Fortress. On 20 November 2024 representatives of NGOs, cultural institutions, and experts discussed the touristic and social potential of the Fortress as a significant element of Kraków’s heritage.
An introduction to the topic was delivered by Mateusz Drożdż, who outlined both the historical context and the current state of preservation of the forts. The meeting was led by Dr Joanna Dziadowiec-Greganić. Participants had the opportunity to share their associations regarding the Fortress in a survey, highlighting its diverse aspects – from positive perceptions as a part of national heritage to ambivalent opinions about its condition and accessibility.
In the second part of the meeting, the managers of various fortifications shared their experiences and the challenges associated with their operations. Among the presentations were also expert voices which emphasised the necessity for integrated actions and collaboration among different stakeholders to ensure that the Fortress can become a vibrant and appealing place for both tourists and residents.
We invite you to join us on Wednesday, 11 December, for the next meeting of the Kraków Heritage Forum, during which we will continue discussing the Kraków Fortress. In a workshop format, we will work on developing ideas for communication, promotional, and networking activities.
