Dr Katarzyna Jagodzińska, head of the Europa Nostra Heritage Hub for Central and Eastern Europe in Kraków, has been appointed to the Council of the Muzeum Sztuki in Łódź. Yesterday, on 6 February 2025, the first council meeting of the 2024-2028 term took place. During the course of it, Dr Jagodzinska was elected deputy chair. The museum has very ambitious exhibition plans for this year and beyond. We are looking forward to new openings. ‘St Ives and Elsewhere’ is coming soon.
Dr Jagodzińska is an art historian, museologist, curator, public relations specialist and cultural journalist. In addition to her work at the Europa Nostra Hub, she is an assistant professor at the Institute of European Studies at Jagiellonian University and the first programme director at the Toy Museum in Kraków. She specialises in museum and heritage studies. Later in February, her book ‘Participation and the Post-Museum’ will be published by Routledge, which includes among its case studies participatory projects carried out by the Muzeum Sztuki in Łódź.
The relationship between the Muzeum Sztuki in Łódź and Europa Nostra has a long history. In 1990, a branch of the museum – the Herbst Palace Museum – received the Europa Nostra Award for the exemplary conservation of this historic residence from the second half of the 19th century. The palace was built as part of the Scheibler family’s textile empire on Księży Młyn.
We look forward to supporting the museum with our expertise and deepening our relationship in the field of heritage and art.
