Our news

Europa Nostra Heritage Hub for Central and Eastern Europe in Kraków is a regional centre of Europa Nostra, a pan-European federation of organisations involved in the protection, management, and promotion of cultural and natural heritage in 40 European countries.

As a platform, we strengthen the voice of NGOs from Central and Eastern Europe in shaping European heritage policy.
We facilitate cooperation between civic organisations and heritage institutions in the region.
We increase the visibility of activities supporting heritage in the region.

Protection for Academic Ritual from Kraków

On February 12, 2024, practice from Kraków – the inaugural procession of Jagiellonian University professors – was added to Polish National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage. It is the first academic initiative to be included among the national intangible cultural heritage practices to be protected in Poland.

Heritage organisation survey: complete the survey and share with us your knowledge and experience

We invite you to participate in a study collecting data on the non-governmental heritage sector in Central and Eastern Europe. The study aims to understand the size and nature of this sector as well as the challenges and opportunities it faces. The survey results will be part of a report prepared within the framework of the Mapping the Non-Governmental Heritage Sector in Central and Eastern Europe project.

Kraków Heritage Forum is up and running

On January 31, 2024, we held the second meeting of Krakow heritage NGO’s. This space for dialogue initiated and led by the Europa Nostra Heritage Hub in Krakow was named the Kraków Heritage Forum. The meeting attended by representatives from nearly thirty civil organisations focused on the intangible heritage of Krakow. .

Recommendations to safeguard cultural heritage in Ukraine drafted by experts in Brussels

Dr Katarzyna Jagodzińska, head of the Europa Nostra Heritage Hub for Central and Eastern Europe in Kraków, represented the Society of Friends of Kraków History and Heritage (Towarzystwo Miłośników Historii i Zabytków Krakowa) at the meeting of the European Commission-led expert group on the safeguarding of cultural heritage in Ukraine taking place in Brussels on January 22-23, 2024.

European Heritage Hub has just opened call for proposals to Small Grants Scheme. It finances projects led by civil society organisations which protect cultural heritage in EU neighbouring countries. Cooperation agreement with the Centre of Community Archives

On January 9, 2024, Europa Nostra Heritage Hub in Krakow signed a cooperation agreement with the Centre of Community Archives in Warsaw. The agreement includes creating a community archive devoted to activism in the area of heritage in Central and Eastern Europe.
