Europa Nostra Heritage Hub for Central and Eastern Europe in Kraków is a regional centre of Europa Nostra, a pan-European federation of organisations involved in the protection, management, and promotion of cultural and natural heritage in 40 European countries.

As a platform, we strengthen the voice of NGOs from Central and Eastern Europe in shaping European heritage policy.
We facilitate cooperation between civic organisations and heritage institutions in the region.
We increase the visibility of activities supporting heritage in the region.

Ukraine Heritage Spotlight: Cancelling Russian Culture

The ongoing war in Ukraine has not only caused physical damage. Russia’s continuing “special military operation” also has a cultural dimension, one which Ukraine is now having to fight against, and not just with heavy weaponry. Civic Heritage Forum in Toruń

On March 5, 2024, we initiated Citizens’ Heritage Forum on tour. At the invitation of the Marshal’s Office of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, the team of the Europa Nostra Heritage Hub presented projects realised by Europa Nostra and carried out a workshop for non-governmental organisations operating in the region.

3. The Krakow Heritage Forum discussed the intangible heritage of Kraków

On February 28, 2024, the third Kraków Heritage Forum took place – a meeting of Kraków non-governmental heritage organisations. Nineteen people from sixteen organisations and representatives of the Kraków Municipality took part in the meeting. The topic of Kraków’s intangible heritage, initiated during the second Forum, was continued in the workshop formula.

The first Meeting of the Advisory Council of the European Heritage Hub

On February 20, 2024, the first meeting of the Advisory Councul of the international European Heritage Hub project took place, of which our regional centre of Europa Nostra is a partner. One of the members of the Council is Professor Jacek Purchla, vice-president of Europa Nostra and president of the Society of Friends of Kraków History and Heritage, the operator of the Krakow Hub.

Protection for Academic Ritual from Kraków

On February 12, 2024, practice from Kraków – the inaugural procession of Jagiellonian University professors – was added to Polish National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage. It is the first academic initiative to be included among the national intangible cultural heritage practices to be protected in Poland.

Heritage organisation survey: complete the survey and share with us your knowledge and experience

We invite you to participate in a study collecting data on the non-governmental heritage sector in Central and Eastern Europe. The study aims to understand the size and nature of this sector as well as the challenges and opportunities it faces. The survey results will be part of a report prepared within the framework of the Mapping the Non-Governmental Heritage Sector in Central and Eastern Europe project.

Kraków Heritage Forum is up and running

On January 31, 2024, we held the second meeting of Krakow heritage NGO’s. This space for dialogue initiated and led by the Europa Nostra Heritage Hub in Krakow was named the Kraków Heritage Forum. The meeting attended by representatives from nearly thirty civil organisations focused on the intangible heritage of Krakow. .
