Europa Nostra Heritage Hub for Central and Eastern Europe in Kraków is a regional centre of Europa Nostra, a pan-European federation of organisations involved in the protection, management, and promotion of cultural and natural heritage in 40 European countries.

As a platform, we strengthen the voice of NGOs from Central and Eastern Europe in shaping European heritage policy.
We facilitate cooperation between civic organisations and heritage institutions in the region.
We increase the visibility of activities supporting heritage in the region.

Regional pride highlighted by Małopolska Culture Heritage Days

This year’s edition of the Małopolska Cultural Heritage Days — winner of the 2025 European Heritage Award / Europa Nostra Award — was held under the theme “Light”. Capturing its historic reflections with a microphone was no easy task, but two brave members of our team took it on! John Beauchamp and Dr Katarzyna Jagodzińska, Head of the Heritage Hub, visited three sites along the 2025 Małopolska Cultural Heritage Days trail — all of which feature in the latest, 17th episode of the Holistic Heritage podcast.

Winners announced of the European Heritage Awards / Europa Nostra Awards 2025!

The European Commission and Europa Nostra today announced the winners of the European Heritage Awards / Europa Nostra Awards 2025. Among the laureates are two representatives from Poland, two from Ukraine — including a joint Ukrainian-Lithuanian project — and one from Slovakia. Altogether, the “Cultural Heritage Oscars”, as these prestigious honours are often referred to, will be awarded this year to 30 organisations, institutions, and individuals from 24 countries.

Protection of intangible cultural heritage of Kraków

During the thirteenth meeting of the KHF on 29th April 2025 we returned to the topic of the city’s intangible heritage at the request of the Team for the Intangible Heritage of Kraków appointed by the Mayor of the City of Kraków. Its topic was the report worked out by the Team.

Participation and the Post-Museum

What exactly is a post-museum? How can museums – as custodians of knowledge – open up their collections and involve the public in their interaction? Or should they not do so at all? Heritage Champion Piotr Gerber

On 10 April 2025, in the representative hall of the Silesian Parliament in Katowice, Dr. Piotr Gerber received the medal of the European Heritage Award | Europa Nostra Award from Prof. Jacek Purchla, Vice-President of Europa Nostra, in the category of Heritage Champions. This is the highest European distinction for activities undertaken to preserve and promote cultural heritage.
