At the end of March, Dr Konrad Kołodziejczyk will depart from the Europa Nostra Heritage Hub for Central and Eastern Europe team. Since its inception in July 2022, he has been a vital part of our lineup, significantly contributing to the development of our Hub through his dedication and professionalism, playing a crucial role in numerous projects and initiatives.
We sincerely thank Dr Konrad Kołodziejczyk for nearly three years of fruitful collaboration and wish him continued professional success. Until now, he has combined his administrative duties with academic work, being part of the Historical Atlas Department (Digital History Unit) at the Tadeusz Manteuffel Institute of History of the Polish Academy of Sciences and serving as the scientific secretary of the journal “Studia Geohistorica”. Now it is time for him to fully dedicate himself to science and historical research.
Dr Konrad Kołodziejczyk’s research focuses on areas such as historical demography, digital history, the spatial dimension of historical studies, genealogy, and social history. In 2024, Dr. Kołodziejczyk published a book titled “The Population of Christian Kazimierz near Kraków in the 18th Century: A Socio-Demographic Study”. This publication offers insights into the life of early-modern Polish families and illustrates the role of migration in shaping the city. Contrary to popular belief, which associates Kazimierz primarily with Jewish inhabitants, the book highlights that until the end of the 18th century, the town was almost entirely inhabited by Christians. We highly encourage you to read it!
