The voice of the heritage

The XV meeting of the Krakow Heritage Forum was held on Thursday 2 October with the first of three workshop sessions dedicated to heritage sounds and storytelling. The workshops were run by John Beauchamp, the Kraków Heritage Hub’s audio producer and heritage specialist, who introduced attendees to the world of sonic narratives.

The meeting was attended by members of the Kraków heritage community who are interested in new ways of communicating their projects and how sound can play a greater role in their work. John presented a number of examples of how audio can bring stories to life through sonic engagement, and also made sound maps of Kraków Main Market Square with the group to demonstrate how the more we turn off other senses, the more we can hear.

The first meeting of the season was held at the International Cultural Centre – a partner of the Europa Nostra Heritage Hub– with director Agata Wąsowska-Pawlik welcoming the attendees of the Kraków Heritage Forum. The Kraków Heritage Hub’s Dr Katarzyna Jagodzińska helped moderate the event.
