We are pleased to announce that this year’s laureates of the Costa Carras European Citizens Awards for the Safeguard of Endangered Heritage are the Cypriot environmental organisation AKTI Project and Research Centre and the Italian Future Food Institute (FFI). The awards ceremony will take place on 9 April 2025 as part of the X Delphi Economic Forum.
The Costa Carras European Citizens Awards were established in 2023 by Europa Nostra and Elliniki Etairia (Society for the Environment and Cultural Heritage) in honour of Costa Carras, an inspiring advocate for heritage in Greece and Europe. The awards are bestowed annually upon a European citizen, a group of individuals, or a civil society organisation based in Europe for a successful and exemplary campaign mobilising society to safeguard endangered heritage on our continent. This year, 27 applications were submitted from various countries, including Armenia, Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Germany, Greece, and Italy.
The jury has awarded the Gold Award to AKTI Project and Research Centre for their outstanding work in safeguarding endangered natural heritage, while the Future Food Institute (FFI) received the Silver Award for their promotion and protection of cultural and natural heritage.
We are proud to receive the Costa Carras Gold Award, which motivates us to continue our twenty-five years of work towards green transformation and sustainable development. Sustainable development is not just a theory; it is about action and real solutions that we all must engage in! – emphasised the Chair of AKTI, Dr Xenia I. Loizidou.
