In this episode of the podcast “Ukraine Heritage Spotlight”, we visit Lviv, home to the Jam Factory Art Center. This new multidisciplinary art center has emerged in an old, neglected district of the largest city in western Ukraine. The creation process took years, and today Jam Factory is the trendiest hub for contemporary artists from both Ukraine and abroad, with ambitions to become the country’s leading exhibition space.
Creating such a vast space for visual and performing arts in a former industrial building proved challenging. However, for the Jam Factory team, nothing is impossible, especially with the support of their founder and Swiss cultural entrepreneur Harald Binder.
John Beauchamp, a radio journalist and sound producer and Katarzyna Jagodzińska PhD, head of the Europa Nostra Heritage Hub in Krakow, meet with the Jam Factory’s Program and Executive Director Bozhena Pelenska. The discussion also features Artur Wabik from Kraków’s Comics Museum. The podcast was recorded during a study trip to Lviv by the Europa Nostra Heritage Hub team in Krakow, which took place from 2nd-5th April, 2024. We also encourage you to explore other episodes of the “Ukraine Heritage Spotlight” podcast created during this trip.
