Last weekend, EC1 Łódź hosted the unveiling ceremony for the European Heritage Award / Europa Nostra Award plaque, one of the most prestigious awards in the field of cultural heritage protection in Europe! Prof. Jacek Purchla, Vice-President of Europa Nostra and Chairman of the Europa Nostra Awards Jury, and Agata Wąsowska-Pawlik, a member of the Europa Nostra Board, attended the event.
The unveiling of the Europa Nostra Award plaque at EC1 in Łódź also marked the 10th anniversary of the EC1 Planetarium and the 8th anniversary of the EC1 Science and Technology Centre. Hanna Zdanowska, Mayor of Łódź, and Dr Adam Hajduga, Vice-President of the European Route of Industrial Heritage (ERIH), also attended the ceremony.

EC1 Łódź was honoured with the European Heritage Award / Europa Nostra Award 2025 in the ‘Conservation and Adaptation’ category. The official award ceremony took place on 13 October in Brussels. The jury recognised the unique transformation of the former power plant into a modern, multifunctional cultural and educational complex.
Today, EC1 Łódź is a vibrant centre housing a science and technology centre, a planetarium, a cinema, a comic book centre, a film culture centre, and public spaces, among others. It is an exemplary model of industrial heritage revitalisation, inspiring cities across Europe by showing how new cultural and social spaces can be created while respecting history.
