I warmly congratulate this year’s laureates of the European Heritage Awards / Europa Nostra Awards on their well-deserved recognition. These inspiring initiatives show how cultural heritage can be a powerful force for positive change in Europe – strengthening communities, supporting well-being, driving creativity, and contributing to economic resilience. Cultural heritage connects people across generations and borders. It brings European citizens closer together, united in our rich diversity. It brings beauty and meaning to our daily lives and shows how it can help shape a more sustainable and inclusive future – said Cecilia Bartoli, world-renowned mezzo-soprano and President of Europa Nostra.

These prestigious awards are given to organisations, institutions, and individuals implementing projects in the field of cultural and natural heritage, as well as to those working to preserve, educate, promote, and innovate within the heritage sector. The winners were selected by an international panel of experts chaired by Professor Jacek Purchla, Vice-President of Europa Nostra. The announcement of the laureates took place on 12 June 2025 at the Europa Nostra Heritage Hub in Kraków. As part of the event, a one-hour discussion was held with the winners, moderated by Professor Jacek Purchla and Dr Katarzyna Jagodzińska, head of the Europa Nostra Heritage Hub for Central and Eastern Europe in Kraków.

The winners will be honoured during the European Heritage Awards Ceremony, which will take place on 13 October 2025 at Flagey, an iconic Art Deco building in Brussels. This important event will be attended by European Commissioner for Intergenerational Fairness, Youth, Culture, and Sport Glenn Micallef, and Executive President of Europa Nostra Hermann Parzinger. During the ceremony, the Grand Prix winners and the Public Choice Award laureate will be announced. They will be selected from among this year’s winners and will each receive €10,000. The ceremony will be the highlight of the European Cultural Heritage Summit 2025, which will be held from 12–14 October in Brussels.

We encourage you to vote online for the project you believe deserves the Public Choice Award. Voting is open until 12 September 2025. More information about this year’s European Heritage Awards / Europa Nostra Awards winners from other countries can be found on the Europa Nostra website.
