A visit to the Centre of Community Archives in Warsaw

HomepageA visit to the Centre of Community Archives in Warsaw

On December 18, 2023, the team of the Europa Nostra Heritage Hub visited Centrum Archiwistyki Społecznej [Centre of Community Archives] in Warsaw. The visit aimed to set directions for joint activities in the area of development of community archives.

The meeting was an opportunity to discuss the topic of identifying community archives in Central and Eastern Europe (it is an imprecise concept, functioning in different countries under different names, and the organizational form of such archives varies in nature), and the possibility of including them in the research project “Mapping the non-governmental heritage sector in Central and Eastern Europe”, which our Hub is currently implementing as part of the European Heritage Hub project. Additionally, there are plans to create a community archive dedicated to the heritage of Central and Eastern Europe.

The meeting on behalf of the Centre of Community Archives was attended by Małgorzata Pankowska-Dowgiało, Head of the Department of Competence Development of Community Archivists, Joanna Michałowska, coordinator of the consulting network in the Department of Competence Development of Community Archivists, Adriana Kapała, coordinator of training and education in the Department of Competence Development of Community Archivists, Marta Przybyło, a specialist in the Department of Competence Development of Community Archivists, and on behalf of the Europa Nostra Heritage Hub Dr Katarzyna Jagodzińska and Dr Joanna Dziadowiec-Greganić.
